I finally went to a store today...

for the first time in over a month! The sad thing is...I didn't use any coupons and tried to get what I needed and get out as soon as possible. I feel like a different person from who I was in October. I hope I can find that coupon loving- money saving chica back soon. In the mean time...I might be posting again soon, but if you want to know why I have been not posting check out this post from my other blog:
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
I miss my money saving friends.

Taking a break

I'm taking a break from couponing for a bit. I hope to get back into it in December, but I've been busy and sick and that has been one thing to give up for a short while.
Luckily because I have a nice stockpile- the only thing my husband needs to get from the store is produce, bread and eggs. I gave him a list for Walgreens the other day and he did good. I think I am easily staying within the grocery budget- mostly because I am not doing as much shopping.

Busy-ness

Man, I feel like I've been away from the shopping scene for a while. Even my husband was surprised that I hadn't gone shopping in over a week. I see that King Soopers has some great deals this week, and after the snow calms down...I might venture out:) In the meantime I will continue making WARM food to keep the house toasty. Let it snow..I want a snow day:)

Thinning the Stockpile

All my deal hunting from this summer has created an overflow of "stockpile" in my basement. I donated a bunch of stuff to a local pregnancy resource center this week.
I hope they love the stuff!

Other highlights of my shopping week include Safeway: Snapple was .99 each when you buy 4, I used 4 .55 mc which doubled .45 =4 free Snapple's. I bought some gum as filler. I also had $10.00 left over from Joint Juice deal that needed to be used up, so I bought 2 rotisserie chickens. My receipts said my savings were 91% and 100%!!

Organization Saturday

With snow and cold weather to keep me indoors, I did some heavy duty cleaning and some major organizing.
I wanted to do a lot of baking, but I was limited by ingredients (mostly eggs). I hate running to the store because it is COLD out, and because the nearest supermarket is 10 min. away and pretty expensive. To help me with these problems in the future I did an inventory of my pantry, and my extra storage in the basement. Now I know what I need.

Last minute grocery deals and Walgreens

I decdided to stop by King Soopers and Safeway for some last minute grocery deals (the sale ad ends today) and I got my first chance to go to Walgreens this week too.
King Soopers

I had a lot of .55 off 1 Zone Perfect Bar coupons. KS doubled to $1 and they were on sale for $1. I did 3 transactions to get 9 free.
I also saw that Mountain High Yogurt was 2/$1 at the store I shopped at last week. I cut out tons of coupons for .50/2 (which doubled) and got 18 yogurts for free.
Strawberries were 1.77, Pesto was a little on sale and I had a coupon. I also got a full size poster for .80 (not pictured).

Safeway

I wanted to use some of my $10 Catalina's from Joint Juice so I bought a few things that weren't free:)
Cheerios (huge size) 3.00, $1 MC =$2 each
Joint juice (one last time) 1.39 each, $5.00/7 coupon, received $10 Catalina =$5.27 overage
Mr. Clean products $2.99 sale, BOGO coupon (which took off 4.69), .75 MC from mailer, Safeway coupon for $2.49 (for each one) =.46 overage. I expected to pay for these, but hey- if they want to pay me to take it, I won't complain:)
Tortillas 1.89 each
Roasted chicken $5
Oatmeal .99 clearance
Cream cheese 1.49
Total=$25, used 2-$10 Catalina's, pd $5, got $10 Catalina back.

Walgreens
There were some deals that I read about on Hip2Save that didn't work in CO. For example the Hershey's Dark chocolate bars were not for 2/$3, the Rimmel mascara was not BOGO.
I did need to use RR's..so here is what I got:

8 Dove deodorants 1.94 each, 8- $1 MC, got $10 RR back =$2.48 overage
Trident Layers 2/$2, used 2- .75 MC, got $1 RR = .50 overage

Hershey's .29 each, highlighters .15 (filler items)

Super Walgreens week

It was a super week at Walgreens this week. I did more transactions than I have ever done! At the first WAGS I did 6 transactions, and at the second one I did 6 or more.

I spent a little over $20 for all this, but it includes 8 12-pks of soda, so it still is a good deal! I did most of my transactions on Tuesday so I could use the $5/$25 coupon. The post-it notes were .15 each on clearance and were nice when I wanted to use RR. I also liked the baby powder RR to add as filler. Also, the store had many lotions and shavers still on the shelves when I left:) See how to get these deals at Hip2Save HERE. FYI- The Theraflu deal that everyone else is talking about isn't working here in CO.
The only other place I went lately is King Soopers where I did 3 transactions and got 9 Zone perfect bars for free. They are 1.00 on sale this week, .55 MC from 9/13, Doubled to 1.00= Free.

(Normal price for pants at that store is $69.00) I found some for 19.99 with 40% off, and khakis for 6.99 with 40% off. After using the $10 gift card, I spent $20 for 3 pairs of Limited pants!

I couldn't pass up a stuffed moose for .50. I got a swimming suit top, a few shirts and a large canvas bag in a cool print.

Too busy to shop

I haven't posted here lately because school and VB has kept me too busy to shop for the most part.
I was excited this week because I got this in the mail:

I have always wanted to be a randomly selected home by Neilson to do a survey about our TV's, computers, and viewing habits. The best part was that they included $2 right in the package. WOO HOO.
I also found a place where I can sign up to do other kinds of surveying for them to get prizes. We'll see if that works out.

I went to Walgreens this week to use up some RR that were about to expire. All I bought was Starbucks Ice cream and Cran-Grape juice. Boring:)
I got tons of great deals at King Soopers (Mentos Gum, Organic Yogurt, Healthy Choice Steamers). I also bought meat, cheese, eggs, bread, milk and lots of produce and still stayed within the $40 limit. SWEET. No time to take pictures and brag:(

Safeway this week

I got a lot of great deals at Safeway yesterday.

I had 4 $2 off Angel Soft and Sparkle coupons that I printed a long time ago, so I got some free TP and paper towels.
I also had a free sandwich from the deli area (buy 7 get the 8th free or something like that). There is a special this week where if you get a sandwich you get a free 20 oz. coke. In my second transaction I got another sandwich for 3.99 (with in-add coupon) and another free Coke. So I got 2 sandwiches (Tuscan Chicken with fancy cheese, special sauce, onions...yummy!), and 2 cokes for $3.99. SUPPER!
I also did the buy 5 get $5 off cereal/nut cluster deal, but they didn't have any of the Kashi cereal I wanted, so I had to settle for some other choices.
I also did the Velveeta cups deal again (BOGO free, and get $1 Catalina for buying 2)
I did buy a few other things like batteries, apple juice and cheese (for .60 a bag!) to help my total before coupons get up to over $20.

Walgreens this week

I followed Hip2Save post about Walgreens deals HERE because I wanted to spend all my RR from last weekend (they expire on the 31st). I did 6 different transactions because each $5 RR said cannot be combined with another $5 RR. Each of my transactions was a little over $5, and I got mostly stuff I can use. I went in with $30 RR and left with $23 RR. Pretty good.
My favorite find: I picked up 3 coupons books from an isle display at Safeway. One of them was a $1.00/2 Planters Trail Mix coupon I was bummed because they coupons said "only good in August", or "only good September"...but when I saw the add for Walgreens had an in-add coupon for .99 each, I decided it would make a good deal.
(.50 each)This happens to be one of Obama's favorite snacks.

More Walgreens:)

I definitely took advantage of the $5 RR when spending $25 deal. Because the $25 only needed to be reached before coupons, I spent between $5-13 most transactions (and got a lot of RR back) One transaction I used some other RRs and spent $2.48.
Here is the majority of things I got (some soda and a few other things aren't pictured).

Highlights:
Zyrtec =$2.62 overage (I used the $2 MC instead of the $3 Internet printable to avoid beepage)
Zantek= free after coupons
Digital photo album $5.19 (suggested retail on the box is $49.99!). I used a few $5 RR to buy these.
Highlighters= .39 each, used $1/2 MC's =.66 overage
I found the Glade candles that were free after coupon at ONE Walgreen's (I stopped at 4 different stores in 2 days).
Bandaids= $2 overage for all of them.
Huggies wipes= $2.13 overage for them
Softsoap= free
Visine $1.49 clearance, $1MC=.49 each

I don't feel like calculating out transactions, but all those deal above don't include the extra $5 RR that came from six transactions.
= Over $35 in overage to spend on other Walgreens stuff

Safeway deals

I was super glad that Money Saving Mom posted the deal about Fruit snacks at Safeway HERE.

I did 4 different transactions to make sure the Catalina deal didn't overlap...which meant I had to have $20 in each transaction before coupons because the in-add coupons require that.
Here is an example of one transaction:
1
4 Fruit snacks 8.00
4 Cheerios 10.00
All detergent 3.99
2 Velveeta cups 2.50
Used in-add Safeway coupons: $4 off fruit snacks, $4 off cheerios, .50 off All, .46 off Velveeta.
MC: 4- .40 fruit snacks, 2- 1.00/2 Cheerios, $1.50 (Catalina) off All, BOGO Velveeta (1.59)
PLUS: I got a $2.50 Catalina for purchasing fruit snacks, and a $1 for buying 2 Velveeta cups.
=Fruit snacks were Free, Cheerios $1 each, All detergent $2.00, Velveeta cups .55 overage
In all I spent $35 on all this stuff, which is pretty good considering the chicken strips were $12, and the laundry detergent was $7, and the Sun dried tomatoes were $5.

I forgot to mention that I earned $4 for my school with box tops, and if I use the redemption code at Safeway between Sept 18 and Oct 16 I can donate 10% of what I spent back to the school (on the receipt it says I spent $61 on qualifying purchases which would be another $6.10 to the school. Not only did I get a lot of the food for free, I also earned over $10 for my school!!

Target, Walgreens and the Mall

I finally had a chance to to go shopping and find some great deals.
Target:

Kudos bars $2.00 used $1.00 Target coupon= 1.00 a box
Mach 3 razors 5.99, $2 coupon = $3.99
Planters nuts $3.00 each, $1/2 MC =$2.50 each
Air wick freshener $5.99, $6 MC = free
Kashi Cereal 2.74, $1 Target coupon, $1.50 MC =.24
Alexia fries $1.05 on clearance, $1 MC =.05

3 Musketeers .52, BOGO =.26 each
Everything else in the picture (magnets, clips...) .25 each (75% red dot clearance)!!

I also got some Target stuff for school

The bags were .63 each (clearance)
A lot of the other stuff in the front was .25 and will make great prizes for the kids!

I spent a lot of time at WALGREENS

I did a LOT of transactions, and ended up with a lot of great stuff.
I did a neosportin transaction twice: $3.99 each, used 2-.50 coupons, and the WAGS $2 coupon (from the coloring book), received $4 RR = $1 overage
Bandaid deal once 2.99 each, 2-.50 coupons, $4 RR = .50 each
The Listerine deal twice: Buy 3 at $3 each, used $3/3 coupon and got a $6 RR = free
The toothbrushes were on clearance, so I paid .65 total for all of them.
Rice Krispy treats were 4/$10, I used 2- $1/2 MC, got $5 RR = $3 for all
Huggies wipes 2.79, $2 Wags coupon, .50 MC = .29
Zone bars $3/3, 6- .55/1 MC (from my sister in NE), .50 WAGS coupon (in savings book)=.30 overage
Colgate toothpaste $2.99 $1MC, received $3 RR = $1 overage
Toys in front .25 each (filler for RR coupon #'s) Toys on side .49 each (filler for RR coupon #'s)
Fan in back $3.24 (75% off!)
=5.00 for everything including the fan!
One of my toothbrush transactions didn't print the RR, and I knew exactly what to do, and was pretty sure why it didn't print.(the toothbrushes were on clearance)..but I couldn't decide whether to tell them how to return it and do it over differently, or to let them figure it out. After about 5 min. of the asst. manager and the cashier trying to figure it out, I finally told them why I thought it didn't' print, I helped them figure out the return with adding the coupon $ back on..and then doing a separate transaction with 3 floss instead of toothbrushes. It worked fine. Why can't WAGS employees or managers figure out the system? That's OK. They are very nice, and I think they know everything I am doing is legal, so they value my input on why things aren't printing correctly.
The Mall

I got my $10 off anything from Christopher & Banks, and got this brown and white skirt. They didn't even charge me tax! =free
I got a free VS undie using a coupon from the mail.
I paid $3.99 for this skirt/dress from Vanity. It is so colorful!

Hot Walgreens deals

I don't have time to go into detail until the weekend, but I got Huggies wipes for .09-.29, I made $2 on Neosporin, and I got free Listerine and Reach by reading Hip 2 Saves Walgreens posts. I didn't think I would be able to find the coloring/activity book everyone was talking about, or the $50 in savings booklet by the door, but I found them both!!! Check it out here (and keep scrolling down...they are all Walgreens related)
I couldn't find any of the other clearance she has mentioned lately...but it is still worth taking a trip to Walgreens this week.
I also found 2 new coupon books in the at King Soopers and Safeway. Look for them on Big yellow stands at the ends of Isles in the store.

Shopping around town

Got some great deals today.
I'll start out with my clothing deals.

I found a coupon for $10 off your purchase at Christopher & Banks over at Money Saving Madness. I was a bit skeptical, partly because it seems like a GREAT deal, and partly because it seems like an old lady clothes store. I was pleasantly surprised to find a whole wall of 9.99 clothing at the store (they had really cute skirts too). I got this sweater (originally $39.50) to go over some of my teaching outfits and paid .63 (tax).

VS

I got a card in the mail for a free lacie undie and $5 off 1 bra and $15 off 2 bras. Normally I walk in and get the free undie and leave. Today I took a look around and found Demi and Ipex bras at 40% off (with all the sizes and colors available) I got 2 Demi bras and a lace undie for $30. (normal price for 1 bra is $38)

Maurices
Many racks were 75% off already reduced prices at Maurices. I had a $10 off punch card that was full and a gift card so I got these deals and paid $1.65 OP.

The socks were .99 each, the shoes were under $5, I forget how much the shirts were. This dress was 9.99!

I stopped at Office Max to get something printed. I also got these deals:

Crayons .01 each box
Eraser pack .25 each pack

Limit for teachers is double the regular limit.

My average savings for grocery store receipts (it says it at the bottom) is 66%. I'm hoping to increase that, but the last 4 receipts have said 66%:)
FYI- When I find my grocery deals on other blogs the prices vary some, and usually the produce deals are NOT the same.

Shopping: Target, Staples

My DH (BTW-many bloggers use this term to refer to thier husbands...It might mean Designated Husband or something like that, but I use it too because it works) was having a friend over tonight and told me to "go shopping or something" so they could hang out and talk. He didn't have to ask twice:)
Target

Softsoap 3.00 each, used 2-$2 Target coupons and 1- $2 MC = all free
Flower/plant thing 3.14 (was originally 24.99) :)
Kids sunglasses .75 (these will be great for the orphanage in Peru)
Pop-Tarts 1.52, used .75 target coupons and .55 MC (2 printable ones for blueberry muffin top flavor and 2 coupon insert any flavor ones) =.22 each box
Dawn direct foam 2.29, used $1.50 MC from mail coupon book, used .50 Target coupon (from a Sunday insert..it doesn't show a picture but it does say Dawn)
=.29
Fruit snacks 1.50 (with rain check)

If you are looking for some of the coupons, go to MoneySavingMom, click on Categories along the top, and choose either Target Deals or Printable coupons. If I realize there is a deal and I want to find the printable coupon I check that first, if I can't find it there- then I go to hip-to-save and click on the category that may have it.
